Bud’s Louisiana Cafe

Bud’s Louisiana Cafe

The BEST Louisiana Cuisine in San Diego!

After growing up and living in New Orleans for the first 23 years of my life, I have a pretty good idea of good ole’ quality Cajun cuisine. After moving away from my beloved state, I’ve spent the last six years looking for that taste of home in every city I visit. It seems like every time I find a restaurant that claims to have authentic Cajun cuisine, I get all excited, only to be let down by some terribly bland food, which had to have been made by someone who has never even heard of New Orleans. To my surprise, FINALLY, I found a legit restaurant that holds up to the claim of being able to deliver quality Cajun Cuisine. Bud’s Louisiana Cafe met all the requirements and more. On my first visit I ordered the 2 pound crawfish bucket (seasonal), with a side of boudin balls, some Dixie beer to wash it down and beignets with an Abita root beer for dessert. At Bud’s the meal was absolutely perfect. The crawfish was boiled to perfection with just the right amount of spice and they were a very good size. The boudin balls, which are fried balls stuffed with rice, pork, and an array of Cajun spices, were very soft and succulent, some of the best I’ve ever had. Finally for dessert, I had authentic beignets covered in powered sugar with an Abita root beer to top it off.  Beignets are thinly fried dough covered in powered sugar. Although the beignets were a little small and could have used more powered sugar, they were still amazing. Don’t waste another minute at any other restaurant in town, and get down to Buds for that authentic New Orleans taste and Feel.
